Colorado Pumpkin Patch; The Best Place For Fall Fun In The Colorado Springs Area!

Dare To Share!

While fall inevitably means that winter is coming, and I’m going to be cold for 4 months, it also brings SO much excitement to my family! Fall means Pumpkin Patch time! We Love exploring the Pumpkin Patches in our area each year. This year we were privileged to explore The Colorado Pumpkin Patch, which is definitely one of the best places for fall fun in the Colorado Springs Area!

While this pumpkin patch does not have “you pick ’em” pumpkins they do have a great fenced in area to close pre picked pumpkins. However, the gourds are honestly not the reason you come to this patch! There are so many fun activities for the kids that you could easily (and we did) spend the whole day here!

We headed to the massive slide first. We could have spend another 30 minutes here, but we couldn’t take any more of our 3 year old insisting we go down with him….while those bumps are ok for tiny butts they wreak havoc on adults!

Our next stop was the corn boxes, always a blast but make sure you clean out everyones pockets before you do laundry!

I was particularly impressed with some of the more inventive activities at this pumpkin patch, such as the Human Foos Ball

and Lazer Tag! This was the perfect place to ditch the kids and take a load off for us pooped parents! Our kids found tons of friends to shoot with and could have spent allday in this area.

We also really enjoyed the pumpkin shaped jump pillows,

* Note that they were currently fetching more gas for the generators during this picture and the pillows were slightly deflated for a moment

and life sized board games such as Jenga, Tic-Tac-Toe, and Checkers.

Take note that the tractor and pony rides are rather costly and that prices are not clearly posted, we wanted for 30 minutes for pony rides and it was almost our turn when someone finally came around asking for $8 per 3 minute ride….This is definitely not feasible for our large family and I wish we had known before we wasted time in line.

Despite our pony ride set back, we had a wonderful time at the Colorado Pumpkin Patch! We brought our own lunch as we didn’t know what to expect, however there was plenty of food to purchase on site and next time I definitely want to try some of their creations!

Right now you can get a Free drink (with paid admission) at the Colorado Pumpkin Patch! Grab a soda, bottled water, flavored tea or other drink valued at the concession stand valid for up to four admissions! Just click HERE for your special coupon!

Fall is one of my favorite times of year, and not just because it hails the start of another round of the pumpkin spice craze!  As the days get shorter and the air breathes a bit cooler, fall also means it’s time for our family to spend a day at the fall festival! This year, I was lucky enough to be invited to Harvest Farms Fall Festival in Wellington, Colorado (stay tuned for a special coupon!). Not only was our experience amazing, but we were able to learn about the amazing mission of this farm; helping to break the cycle of addiction and homelessness.

DIY Sh*tty Caramel Apples

Dare To Share!
They look pretty….and can be used as a shot put

I love creating family traditions. My greatest hope is that my children cherish them as much as I do and that the memories they make are lasting and maybe even repeated with their own family someday. Not all traditions are easily forged, however. Some of them take a little practice….or years of practice.

A few years ago I decided I wanted to make caramel apples every year for Halloween. You know those amazing concoctions you see in candy and chocolate shops? The ones covered in tons of gooey caramel and drizzled in white and dark chocolate before being dipped in even MORE candy!? Yeah those. I didn’t want to take the easy way out  by buying caramel. NOPE. I wanted to be Suzie Homemaker and start from scratch.  Needless to say, this post was born of my “success”…

Without further ado, here is how to f*ck up your very own caramel apples:

$5 Baby Bag O’ Popcorn Costume

Dare To Share!

I absolutely love Halloween. Not only do I get to shove candy in my mouth all night long with no judgement, but dressing up has always been one of my favorite pastimes. Now that I have added children to the mix, I enjoy watching them dress up as their favorite characters even more. However, through the first four children I have to admit that I was a little stumped when it came to costumes for infants.

Babies are hard to dress no matter what. Throw them in a bulky costume and they basically dissolve into the fabric and you can’t figure out what they are of if they are even in there! Not to mention that in my neck of the woods, Halloween is cold, so it’s hard to show of your baby’s cute costume while they are covered in blankets or folded into themselves in the stroller.

My first son I managed to fashion a decent soldier costume in honor of his uncle picmonkey-collagewho graduated boot-camp that October. For my daughter I bought a run of the mill bear suit and attempted to jazz it up with some flowers and bows. My third I made into a super hero using a superman shirt and blue pants with a red cloth diaper on top. Number 4 got a mummy sleep and play as a gift and I called it good. We ended up covering him up with a snow suit anyway to keep him warn so you couldn’t even tell how cute he was as a mummy! Continue reading “$5 Baby Bag O’ Popcorn Costume”
