20 Things I Do In A Day To Ruin My Kids’ Lives: Part 1

Dare To Share!

While my main goal is to get my children through each day without dying, I apparently am slowing killing their souls with my every action.

The amount of crying, whining, groaning, incessant wailing, and foot stomping indicates that I am constantly working towards their inevitable destruction.

In order to slowly ruin my children’s lives each day, I make them: Continue reading “20 Things I Do In A Day To Ruin My Kids’ Lives: Part 1”

Genetics: It’s All My Fault

Dare To Share!

I remember with my first child when the nurse asked us an hours worth of questions about our genetic history. Was there down syndrome in the family? How about cancer or blood disorders? I was initially somewhat terrified.

This was the first moment that I realized just how responsible I was for everything this child would go through, whether I could control it or not, their health and happiness was riding on my parenting as well as my genes. Continue reading “Genetics: It’s All My Fault”

Dare To Share!

Push the play button at the bottom and sing along with us! These are every mom’s favorite things!

White wine and red wine and cocktail creations
Shiny beer bottles and child free libations
Quiet, tipsy moments that nighttime ever brings
These are a few of mom’s favorite things!

Polished, clean potties and laundry all folded
swept floors, and lawn mowed, and children pre-scolded
Offspring that bow to their parents like kings
These are few of mom’s favorite things!

Girls in potato sacks and boys playing nicely
Children who make their beds up quite precisely
Sisters and brothers who leave out verbal stings
These are a few of mom’s favorite things!

When the dog barfs, when our ears ring
When you’re screaming mad
Just simply remember mom’s favorite things
And then you can blame their dad!

Spicy bloody mary’s and a personal cook
Hot bubble baths and new romance book
Children who do chores happily without strings
These are a few of mom’s favorite things

Cuddles with littles and blankets all cozy
Sweet tiny kisses and cheeks red and rosey
Jolly little voices and tears when they sing
These are a few of mom’s favorite things

Chocolate well hidden so no one can find it
Christmas gifts wrapped with tight ribbon to bind it,
Guests that arrive with much wine under wing
These are a few of mom’s favorite things

When no one sleeps, when your job clings
When your man’s a cad,
Just simply remember mom’s favorite things
And then you can blame their dad!

Amazing, Caramel Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies

Dare To Share!

Holiday baking is a super fun activity in our home. We bake all sorts of goodies for our friends and neighbors, co-workers and family, in lieu of more traditional gifts and so take great pride in making sure they are receiving only the best baked goods.

Some of my favorites are soft baked ginger cookies, fluffy sugar cookies, and banana bread with gobs cream cheese frosting.

However, my newest obsession are also my newest creation. I made a double batch of these, approximately 4 dozen cookies, and they barely lasted a week. My husband, a fitness fanatic, ate 23 in a single day! Continue reading “Amazing, Caramel Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies”

Day Dreams Of Ending An Elf

Dare To Share!

When “The Elf On The Shelf” first came out, I swore our family wouldn’t be sucked in.

The holidays are stressful enough without having to remember to hide a slightly creepy, weirdly stiff stuffed toy each night before bed….or, more correctly, to quickly can come up with a crazy explanation as to why the elf hasn’t moved since yesterday morning.

“Remember yesterday when you didn’t clean your room like mommy asked? The Elf obviously didn’t like that….so he became petrified…like wood…so be good or he won’t be able to move…”
