Dare To Share!

I love Amazon, it is the best place to find of the most AMAZING and, often, overlooked products out there. It is also a place to find some of the weirdest stuff, things you might not think you want or that would be perfect for that funny office gift exchange.

Ugly sweaters are definitely one of the latter. No matter how ugly they are though, I still have a special place in my heart for them…In fact I may have just ordered #10 on this list!

Amazing, Caramel Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies

Dare To Share!

Holiday baking is a super fun activity in our home. We bake all sorts of goodies for our friends and neighbors, co-workers and family, in lieu of more traditional gifts and so take great pride in making sure they are receiving only the best baked goods.

Some of my favorites are soft baked ginger cookies, fluffy sugar cookies, and banana bread with gobs cream cheese frosting.

However, my newest obsession are also my newest creation. I made a double batch of these, approximately 4 dozen cookies, and they barely lasted a week. My husband, a fitness fanatic, ate 23 in a single day! Continue reading “Amazing, Caramel Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies”

10 Reasons Your Elf Didn’t Move Last Night

Dare To Share!

If mornings don’t suck enough, add sad faces when the children discover that their beloved Elf On The Shelf has not moved during the night.

He has remained in the same spot he was found in yesterday and, thus, did not make the trip home to Santa to discuss how awesome his little humans are….

Obviously, this is their fault, and here are 10 reasons why! Continue reading “10 Reasons Your Elf Didn’t Move Last Night”

5 Holiday Traditions To Start With Your Family

Dare To Share!

Holiday traditions are one of my favorite parts of Christmas. I love having a go-to guide of activities that my children look forward to each year! Here are some on my favorites that our family always enjoys!

Advent Calendar

An advent calendar is essentially a countdown to Christmas that starts on December 1st. Each day you open a box with the corresponding date and generally receive a candy for your efforts. We have a fabulous gingerbead house advent calendar with a little compartment for each day. Since we have so many kids we cant stuff all the chocolate in there so we have chosen to print of special holiday activities that must be competed each day for them to get chocolate out of our special snowman tin. Activities can be anything from making their teachers a holiday card, being kind to someone, donating a toy to charity, or simply enjoying a holiday movie with the family. Here is a link to a great list of advent calendar directives. img_5335 Continue reading “5 Holiday Traditions To Start With Your Family”

DIY Holiday Card Display

Dare To Share!

Holiday Cards are so much fun to receive. I love all the festive colors, characters, images of loved ones with Santa, and I very much dislike hiding them away in a box never to be seen again.wp_20161204_19_58_57_pro

I have spent years propping them up on every available surface; cluttering shelves and tacking them to walls so I find the same joy in the days leading to Christmas that I did when I first received them.

This method is neither efficient nor aesthetically pleasing, however, so I have been on a hunt for a better way. I decided to get a little crafty and see what I could cook up without breaking my budget or my time constraints.

Because Target is ‘da BOMB,  I headed to the dollar area and scoured each bin for suitable paraphernalia. I came out with 5 sets of 8 absolutely adorable, tiny, holiday themed clothes pins and some red and green entwined yarn. Easy as pie and twice as cheap as I spend less than $10!

I then spend about 10 minutes cutting the correct amount of string and choosing where I wanted to display my favorite cards. I spent waaaayy more time deciding which cards to hang up first.

I threw a couple bows over the pins I put through the yarn into the wall and Voila! A perfect way to display my holiday cards, my kids’ Santa pics, and anything else holiday themed!

Day Dreams Of Ending An Elf

Dare To Share!

When “The Elf On The Shelf” first came out, I swore our family wouldn’t be sucked in.

The holidays are stressful enough without having to remember to hide a slightly creepy, weirdly stiff stuffed toy each night before bed….or, more correctly, to quickly can come up with a crazy explanation as to why the elf hasn’t moved since yesterday morning.

“Remember yesterday when you didn’t clean your room like mommy asked? The Elf obviously didn’t like that….so he became petrified…like wood…so be good or he won’t be able to move…”
