Looking for The Best Colorado Summer Camp For Your Kids? Avid4 Adventure Is #1!

Dare To Share!

One thing I fight with my kids about ALL year long, is screen time. It feels like as soon as they walk in from school or wake up on Saturday morning they are begging to watch or play something on a device!

Between the appeal of YouTube, all the gaming systems and their specialized games, Netflix, etc.  my “mom” activities simply can’t compete. Which means I am constantly shooing them outside and trying to come up with things that will keep them occupied, stimulated, and growing in various skills.

With 6 kids at home, this is something I cannot do on my own and why I am so happy to have Avid4Adventure Summer Camps in Colorado! Continue reading “Looking for The Best Colorado Summer Camp For Your Kids? Avid4 Adventure Is #1!”

The Perfect Jewelry Gift for Any Mom Any Day!!!

Dare To Share!

As a mom I have always wanted to immortalize my children, to keep them with me in some way at all times. I have thought of getting tattoos, or creating stepping stones with their handprints…well tattoos are expensive and PERMANENT! And as much as I love stepping stones I want something closer to my heart, something beautiful that everyone will comment on and ask about!

Mama’s jewelry is the answer for me! From pendants or rings, to earrings and bracelets i can get beautiful jewelry with all six of my children’s  birthstones!

Since we aren’t 100% sure that #6 is our last, I am going to wait a few years to order my PERFECT pendant…However, I wanted to shower my Mother in law with some much deserved love and decided to order her the PERFECT necklace with all 12 of her grandchildren’s birthstone represented!

I love the rose gold option as I am not a fan of traditional gold. However, silver didn’t seem warm enough for such a lovely representation of family. The craftsmanship is simply beautiful and so very elegant.

We were given the option of choosing imitation jewels or paying an extra fee per stone for natural. I chose to stick with imitation, but still found the stones to be lovely and bright!

Moms work hard 365 days out of the year, so why give them another predictable gift? With the exquisite collection of mothers ring, pendants, and bracelets from Mama’s Jewelry, you’re bound to the most unforgettable gift! Each time my mother in law looks down at her necklace, she’ll remember just how much she’s loved.

Mama’s Jewelry has been designing rings and pendants for moms for 30 years. Their company is committed to creating exceptional mothers pendants, rings and earrings at affordable prices.

Incredibly, as soon as they receive your order, their CAD technicians and certified jewelers get to work designing and building your custom item while following strict quality control measures.

Most orders for mothers rings and pendants are able to be sent out within 3 to 5 days, reaching you about a week later. If you’re shopping at the last minute, Mama’s Jewelry will take care of you and ensure that you get a custom made item that looks like it took months to make!banner

My Uterus, My Problem: But Seriously, How Many Kids Is Enough?

Dare To Share!

I have six children, and a very obvious obsession with babies. When we had our fifth we thought our family might be complete. But a year went by and we both felt the tug at our hearts that meant we had more love to give.

All our children wanted another bundle of joy as well, so we went for it. Number 6 came along about six months ago and my husband and I both immediately questioned whether we would truly be happy if this was our last baby.

Break the Boredom of Summer with Avid 4 Adventure Camps!

Dare To Share!

Winter is coming to an end, FINALLY!!

I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to a break from the cold as well as the school grind as much, if not more than my kids! I love watching my children be adventurous during summer, experiencing and learning through play!

There is one thing about summer I don’t look forward to, however. Five whiny little voices complaining that they are bored; “There’s nothing to do!” “It’s too hot to play outside” “There’s nothing fun around here!”

Ugh! This drives me nuts. I want my children to play outside, to be adventurous and learn from their environment. I want them to scrape their knees, climb trees, make friends, and BE CHILDREN for Pete’s sake!

Thankfully, I have found the perfect solution! Aviid4 Adventure Camps throughout Colorado and California! These camps teach pre-K-12th graders the power of authentic outdoor adventure with climbing, paddling, biking, and hiking! I wish I was a kid again so I could go too!

Plus, I have a special offer for my readers at the bottom of this post! You can sign up at www.avid4.com or call 800-977-9873 Now!

10 Things I Wish Someone Had Told Me As A New Mom

Dare To Share!

Sleep when the baby sleeps; seriously just

f*cking do it

This is one of those pieces of advice that EVERY new mom gets and that EVERY new mom scoffs at.

“How am I supposed to sleep when the baby sleeps?! I have cleaning to do and laundry to drown in! AHHHHHH!”

I didn’t listen for the first few of my babies either ladies…And then one day after baby #4 I was so exhausted, so needed to heal my body and mind, that I said F*ck it and took a nap with my baby each day for a week.  Guess what? My house didn’t explode, my husband thanked me for not being an a crazy-sleep-deprived-wacko, and no one judged me that I had dirty dishes in the sink.

That Time My Kids Touched The Elf

Dare To Share!

The Elf On The Shelf is a tradition that….

drives parents crazy!

Sure this guy/gal is loveable to the children it watches over so carefully. However, it is also almost irresistable to the sticky fingers that so desperately want a tangible way to interact with Santa!

As we all know from the CAPTIVATING Elf On The Shelf move, our children, sadly, cannot tough their elves lest they lose the magic that allows them to fly home to Santa each night.  So what are parents to do when tiny fingers won’t listen?

We came across this problem when our Elf, Huckleberry Snow, made a particularly funny appearance for my daughter’s birthday.

The little jerk made chocolate turds in my wine glass!

Of course, my 4 and 2 year old couldn’t resist sneaking all the chocolate on the table. Totally understandable. However, when my four year old picked up the elf to pop more of his poops into his mouth…I called a halt and reminded him that Huckleberry Snow would lost his powers now.

Selfish/Stealing Child = Dead Elf

Why did I say that!? How was the elf going to lose his powers? I wanted to make my point about taking things without asking and also avoid breaking all their tiny hearts!

The solution? The elf turned up the next morning…

BROKEN!!!

That’s right. He propped himself on a cot on our tree and prominently displayed his bandaged leg to my kids.

He came complete with a letter from Santa:

My son felt so bad that he insisted on baking our elf cookies to help him feel better and asked for in writing an apology letter. my other children chimed in as well and helped bring huckleberry Snow extra Christmas cheer while he recovered!

Best of all?

we got a 3 night break from remembering the elf!

Have your kids ever touched the Elf?

10 Fabulous Homemade Gifts For Teachers and School Staff!

Dare To Share!

Our children’s teachers are not just educators. They are a part of our kids’ daily lives and a part of their hearts.  In fact, for many people, their kids see more of their teacher on any given day than they do their parents! For all their hard work, their patience, their devotion and personal and monetary contributions, teachers deserve recognition and appreciation from all of us. However, The holidays can be a difficult time of year for many parents. For us, with 4 kids in school and an already tight budget, it’s hard to find an appropriately appreciative gift that also fits our monetary constraints. Therefore, we often make gifts for our teachers. Here is a list of the best homemade gifts for teachers and school staff!

Book Page Apple

I love this idea from HymnsAndVerses.com. If you can find out the favorite book of your childs’ teacher you can order it used for only a few dollars. Or you can simply go the thrift store and pick up a book for a dollar or two! Bam! You spent less than $5 for a gift that shows a love for reading and for the teacher who taught you how!

Excuses, Excuses

Dare To Share!

We all have flaws. And we all find certain characteristics to be weaknesses in other people.  Lately, however, there is a trend toward taking these flaws and turning them around so that they indicate a strength.

What?!

Bad habits are just that, BAD, and we need to stop making excuses for them.

For Example, just yesterday I saw a headline entitled “People Who Are Always Late Are More Successful and Creative.” First off, I’m pretty sure this was written by someone who is never on time as a comeback to all his friends who are sick and tired of waiting on his A$$.
