10 Reasons Your Elf Didn’t Move Last Night

Dare To Share!

If mornings don’t suck enough, add sad faces when the children discover that their beloved Elf On The Shelf has not moved during the night.

He has remained in the same spot he was found in yesterday and, thus, did not make the trip home to Santa to discuss how awesome his little humans are….

Obviously, this is their fault, and here are 10 reasons why!

*One child, who shall not be named, used scissors in an inappropriate
manner and now mommy needs new undies….The Elf is saddened and needs a
day to mourn the loss of mommy’s things…                                                                               Children Who Break/Ruin Things=Naughty List

*The Elf gets energy from what you eat for dinner, since you refused
to eat he was too exhausted to move…                                                                                          Hungry Children=Naughty List

*The epic disaster left behind by hurricane “children” so terrified
and disgusted the Elf that his feet couldn’t move through the mess…
Messy Children=Naughty List

*All children in the house were so annoying, ridiculous, horrible,
atrocious, loud last evening, that the elf lost all brain function and
went into a stupor. He will recover when you have all apologized and
are quiet for an entire night…                                                                                                           Annoying Loud Children=Naughty List

*Mommy had too much wine and wouldn’t share. The elf was disappointed
and refused to budge…                                                                                                                         Rude Mommy=Naughty List

OK fine, so that one was mommy’s fault, sorry kiddos but wine is muy importante!

*You did not follow simple instructions and go to bed. An hour later
you burst through mommy and daddy’s door and….well, the Elf cannot
unsee what you saw mommy and daddy doing and He needs a day to recover
from his complete and utter, embarrassment.                                                                          Children Who Do Not Abide By Bedtime=Naughty List

*The Elf cannot move until someone fesses up to coloring the dog pink.
If you lie he will not be able to move tonight either and Santa will
become suspicious that there are naughty children living in this
house!…                                                                                                                                   Lying/Refusing To Fess Up=Naughty List

*The Elf tried to use the bathroom and sat on someone’s pee. He was so
grossed out that he returned to his previous resting place to dry…
Children Who Do Not Lift The Lid And Aim=Naughty List

*The Elf is terrified of the big, bad tooth fairy and, thus, does not
move on nights when she arrives…                                                                                                Loosing Teeth=Bad Idea In December

*Someone left the flaming front door open for the umpteenth time despite
numerous reminders to close ALL doors and the Elf froze. He needs time
to thaw…                                                                                                                                    Neglectful Children=Naughty List

  1. Hilarious! I’ve jumped out of bed more than one morning realizing our friendly elf buddy hadn’t moved that night. I’ve managed to get him relocated on all but one occasion when he left a note the next day saying we were up too late & he fell asleep & was too tired to move. lol Thanks for joining us at #BloggerClubUK hope to see you back in the New Year x

  2. I had no idea this was even a game but I’ve heard it from a few moms now and it sounds like a great way to get the kids to act nicely! This really made me laugh especially the point about the wine, it’s muy importante! Thanks for sharing with #GlobalBlogging!

    1. It does help…today he put himself in a clear jug so he could be carried around by the kids….and every time they started fighting he was right there and they shut right up! haha! -Brandi with Big Fit Fam

  3. So funny we do the elf thing but thank goodness I’m not involved Thanks for linking to the #THAT FRIDAY LINKY come back next week please

  4. Hahahaha we haven’t started the elf yet as they’re too young but as and when we do I will defineitly be using the dinner refusal reason – anything to get my daughter to eat and eat something that isn’t waffles!! Have a wonderful Christmas and thanks for sharing at #familyfun x

  5. Hi Brandi, I wish the Elf was a thing when my two were young, oh!, the fun I would have had! But alas my two are far too old and wise to be held to ransom by an Elf. It sounds as if your ‘Darlings’ have a lot of making up to do to get back on the good list. Lets hope they manage it in time.

What I want o know is how they managed to colour the dog pink? I’m thinking one of ours would look good pink.

Thank you for linking up with the #MMBC.

    xx

  6. We don’t have an elf but do have a christmas fairy that brings something each night for the advent calendar. Obviously, she only comes for good children and sometimes mummy and daddy need excuses as to why she didn’t come!! I’ll be using some of these #ablogginggoodtime

  7. I need to print this list out…or maybe you should get a new Elf on the Shelf book out that lists all these reasons the elf doesn’t move. Then again, that might scare the pants off the kids. Though I wish that I could claim the too much wine excuse more often….

  8. Ha ha love this!!! I’m so not into the elf but would totally use these reasons so as not to move him!! Thanks for linking up to #familyfun

  9. Bwahah! I am totally going to use a few of these, hopefully not the undies one… Because I forget to move that darn Elf all of the time and the whole, “He must like it there” is starting to be unconvincing to the children.

  10. Haha brilliant! Our elves didn’t move last night because the children’s continuous fighting made their magic wear off! Thanks so much for joining us at the #bigpinklink and Merry Christmas from all the team!

  11. Our Elf doesn’t move because Henry refused to sit down long enough for me to tell him why Elf moves. So for this year, he really is the Elf on the Shelf. Great post.

Have a lovely Christmas and all the best for the New Year

  12. I’m afraid that Elf on the Shelf is one Christmas tradition I am more than happy not to get involved with! I can’t be doing with another chore on my evening’s list! I’d be useless and forget all the time.
    Thanks for joining #chucklemums

  13. Bahahhaha! Loves! We never done the EOTS and I’m a combination of happy and sad about that. LOL. But this Mommy would have medicated and forgot to move the Elf and I’d have to pretend our elf was elderly and had trouble moving. 🙂 #happynowlinkup

  14. Haha I couldn’t find the elf last night so I eventually gave up and went to bed. This morning when they asked where it was I said he was playing hide and seek and they had to find him! #MMBC

    1. OMG perfect! hahaha! I also forgot…I may need to come up with more than 10 reasons! -Brandi with Big Fit Fam

  15. I’m on an Elf on The Shelf group on facebook and someone was saying not to share when your elves are punishing bad kids, but isn’t that kinda the whole point of it? If you’re good, you get to see something new every morning…if you’re bad then your elf stays put. I think if people can’t hang with the bad as well as the good parts of this project, then they have bigger issues to look at than elf on the shelf.

Anyway these are great examples of how kids are misbehaving these days. This makes me feel like my kids aren’t as crazy as I think they are!

Thanks so much for posting this for me to find on #MarvMondays!

    1. mine are totally nuts! and as crazy as that makes me I would rather they were crazy than abnormally, and creepily calm! haha -Brandi with Big Fit Fam

    1. You’re an amzazeballs lady then! I am on the struggle bus right now with this thing! -Brandi with Big Fit Fam

  16. Haha I like the needing then to eat for energy!! Thankfully this has only happened once in the last two weeks and we managed to move it before Little Man noticed!! #anythinggoes
